We have been planting trees in The Gambia every year since 2019. Since 2020, our planting campaign has been carried out by the Daughters of Gambia in Siffoe, a Gambian NGO run by activist Adama Jarju. It always takes place in August and is an important part of the planting campaign series of the regional youth organization Gunjur.

In 2023 we want to participate again and donate as many seedlings as possible. A seedling costs 10 euros. This includes the purchase and transport. Are you with us? Then donate with pleasure under the keyword „tree planting“. Or contact the board if you would also like to plant a memorial tree.

In 2020, 100 street trees were planted along Siffoe’s main road. As much as such planting is necessary, it is difficult to take care of the seedlings, as the necessary water has to be carried from far away. Therefore, with Adama Jarju, we have been planting seedlings directly in the compounds (yards) of young people since 2021. These are mainly fruit trees, such as mangoes and oranges, which provide both shade and fruit for the families. Also in 2021, we planted memorial trees for our deceased members on the grounds of several projects. In 2022 we planted 100 trees, 50 each in Siffoe and in Foni.

In 2019 our members Marianne and Anja planted again three mango trees together with the teachers in Faraba Sutu.
