Wie ihr sicherlich wisst, werden unsere Facebook Posts und die Beiträge auf unserer Website immer in zwei Sprachen veröffentlicht. Um das zu ermöglichen, übersetzt Alex unsere Texte ins Englische.
Alex ist 31 Jahre alt und hörte das erste Mal durch ihre Freundin Carolin vom GBG e.V.. Carolin hatte damals eine Schulpatenschaft übernommen und einige Zeit später sogar aktiv die Vermittlung der Patenkinder als Vorstandsmitglied. Inspiriert von den Erzählungen und den Initiativen des Vereins beschloss Alex, selbst auch Mitglied zu werden und eine Schulpatenschaft zu übernehmen. Da sie den Vorstand gerne ein bisschen entlasten wollte und durch ihren Aufenthalt in Kanada in der 11. Klasse fließend englisch spricht, bot es sich an, die Übersetzungen für den GBG zu erledigen.
Alex ist Steinrestauratorin und hat dank ihrer Arbeit einige Monate im Globalen Süden gelebt. Durch diese Erfahrung ist in ihr der Wunsch gewachsen, ehrenamtlich tätig zu werden und so wenigstens einen kleinen Beitrag für benachteiligte Länder und deren Einwohner*innen zu leisten. Nach einiger Zeit bei der Flüchtlingshilfe der Diakonie ist sie nun sehr glücklich, den GBG e.V. gefunden zu haben.
Alex war noch nie in Gambia, würde aber sehr gerne mal im Rahmen einer Schulgeldauszahlung dorthin reisen, um die Initiativen und Kinder des Vereins vor Ort kennen zu lernen.

Today we would like to introduce you to another active helper. As you surely know, our Facebook posts and the articles on our website are always published in two languages. To make this possible, Alex translates our texts into English.
Alex is 31 years old and heard about the GBG for the first time due to her friend Carolin. Carolin had taken over a school sponsorship at that time and some time later even actively mediated the placement of the sponsored children as a board member. Inspired by the stories and the initiatives of the association, Alex decided to become a member herself and to take on a school sponsorship. Since she wanted to relieve the board a little bit and speaks English fluently due to her stay in Canada in the 11th grade, it offered itself to do the translations for the GBG.
Alex is a stone conservator and has already lived in the Global South for several months during her work. Due to this experience, the desire grew in her to volunteer and thus make at least a small contribution to disadvantaged countries and their inhabitants. After some time with the refugee aid of the Diakonie, she is now very happy to have found the GBG.
Alex has never been to The Gambia before, but would love to travel there someday as part of a school payment trip to get to know the initiatives and children of the association on-site.
